| Judging CV | Prior to starting my formal tuition as a Swiss conformation judge in 2002, I acted as ring secretary and/or steward at many Swiss dog shows. My first hands-on ring experience as a candidate-judge took place in September 2002, and I graduated as a Swiss breed judge for BH in May 2005. Two years later, having judged the breed for the requisite number of times, I was registered as an International FCI judge. Per August 2014, I have judged Basset Hounds a total of 11 times, i.e. 5 times at International (CACIB) shows, 4 times at breed club specialties (incl. 2 in the UK), and twice at open hound shows in the UK. In addition to this, I had the honour of co-judging a special veteran show in the frame of the 2013 Nationals of the Basset Hound Club of America. I have also assessed other hound breeds at 2 open hound shows in the UK, i.e. PBGV, GBGV, Bassets Fauves de Bretagne, and Beagles. A couple of years ago, I qualified as an FCI International judge for several other (rare!)European hound breeds belonging to the FCI hound group 6 (Swiss Hounds, Small Swiss Hounds, Alpine Bassets, Westphalian Bassets, and Petits Bleus de Gascogne). I am not interested in becoming an "allrounder", but would like to realise 2 goals, i.e.; 1) Qualify to award CCs to Basset Hounds in their country of origin, i.e. the UK, 2) Become a judge for FCI group 6 (Hounds). |
| Other Info | My family acquired its 1st Basset Hound bitch from the UK in 1978, and we started showing her locally a couple of years later. My mother, Grace Servais, first started breeding basset hounds in 1984 under the "Bellecombe" affix, and has since produced 22 litters (including 4 joint litters). Her kennel name was renamed " New Bellecombe" in 2008, and has been officially co-owned by both of us since then. Throughout the years, I have owned and shown several bassets of our own breeding, and made up my first one into a German VDH, as well as an International FCI champion.I joined the Swiss "Basset und Bloodhound Club der Schweiz" in 1983, and became a founding member of the current Swiss breed club, i.e. the "Basset Hound Club of Switzerland", which spun off from the old club in 1999. Later on, I was asked by the BHCS to become a committee member, and its show secretary. The BHCS later elected me as its president in 2011. I belong to many BH clubs in Switzerland and abroad, as well as to several clubs representing other breeds I have either owned, or am interested in. I am able to express myself in 3 different languages (French, English, and German). Last but not least, I am currently owned by a basset bitch (New Bellecombe Rosette), and by 2 Cavalier King Charles (Lysandre du Royaume des Cavaliers Valaisans, alias Lizzie, and Baggera du RCV, alias Baggie)! |
