| Judging CV | First judged at Ardingly in 1989 - Spinoni, with Golden Retrievers just a few months later - and awarded my first CCs in Spinoni at the Breed Club Championship show in 1996 and since every other year or so, including at Crufts 2003 and most recently LKA 2018. My first CC appointment for Goldens was at SCCA in 2010 and for Bracchi in 2017. I was privileged to judge Spinoni - youngstock and BIS - at the Italian Breed Club's Speciality Show in April 2005 and at the Spinone Club of America's 20th Anniversary Speciality in April 2007. I am A1 listed for Spinoni, Bracchi and Golden Retrievers, having owned them since 1983 and I appear on the LR Breed Council B list for the Labrador Retriever - and LRA A3 for the Lagotto), which I judged without CCs at WELKS 2017. C listed for GWPs, Weimaraners, IWSs, Sealyhams and applications soon to be in for a number of other Gundogs, Hounds and Terriers. Although not judged Slovakian or GLP as classes, I feel competent and have seen them and had hands on in UK and in EU and USA. I have judged Korthal and seen a good number close up and a Barbet Annual Meeting, both of which are very interesting breeds. I have exhibited in Europe and also in the USA, where I have been involved with Judge Education for the Spinone Club of America. I feel competent with all Dachshund varieties, the Griffon varieties and Basset breeds. I exhibited Border and Sealyham Terriers for a number of years in the 90s and I have had close association with all these breeds in recent years. I enjoy judging all the sporting breeds, including the groups at Open level. Five Bedeslea Spinoni and a Jansara Pug have gained their show titles in the UK, three in Ireland, one in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg and three more in the USA (one with Gr Ch title). One male has gained his title in four EU countries. Also owned or bred a number of CC, RCC, JW, Top Spinone Puppy and Top Junior Champions bred. Owner and handler of the Top Show Lagotto in 2017. Three Bedeslea Spinoni and a Golden Retriever have won field trial awards - two with me handling. I owned and handled the first male FT award-winner and bred the top FT Spinone in 2000/1, 2010/11, 11/12 and 12/13 seasons. My first Lagotto Romagnolo became Top Lagotto in 2017 and I bred my first litter from her in 2018 and her second in 2019. She also gained a Rally Level 2 Ex title in 2018/19 and qualifications in Scentwork UK at L1 and L2. I own her ch show BOB-winning daughter, B. Ticataboo and co-own KT Viking Invader, ch show BOB-winning imported male from the Kan Trace kennel in Croatia, who was an exciting addition to the team in 2019. There are twenty-thirty dogs owned or bred by me that have gained entry into the KC Stud Book. |
| Other Info | The Bedeslea affix was registered initially for my brother's New Forest Ponies and in 1977 with the Kennel Club for our Labradors. We competed with some success in open obedience up to A and B level. I bought my first Golden Retriever in 1983 for Obedience and showing - she proved to be more talented in gundog training (rather than obedience) - she founded my kennel of dual-purpose Goldens, a number of which (over 20) worked as assistance dogs with Canine Partners. Although I no longer own a Golden, my affix is occasionally seen behind winning dogs in the ring (via Seruilia and St Vincent lines) and in obedience competition and working tests. Many of my Goldens were studio and film dogs, showing their versatile and biddable temperaments. I have also owned Irish Water Spaniels, Border Terriers, Sealyham Terriers, Min Wire Dachshund and Longhaired Dachshund (St) and a Jansara Pug Champion - all of these breeds being shown with some success for a number of years. I jointly shared the Leconfield Sealyham affix for a few years during the late 90s. I enjoyed handling dogs for other people, including Min Bull Terriers, Labrador Retrievers, Flatcoated Retrievers and the Setter breeds. One small point of interest may be that 'I am happy to judge at any venue so long as it is not so far that it requires me to be away overnight. However, this is not a 'hard and fast' rule and there are some appointments which could encourage me to be away for longer than a day. I am fit and well and able to judge for a full day - at Open level, with the cost of travel, I would probably not accept an appointment to judge just a few dogs, rather spend a day and judge variety and quantity.' |
| Distance Prepared to Travel | I am prepared to travel up to 150 miles in each direction, as long as the appointment includes some of the breeds that I am particularly interested in and is a full day's judging. I will, of course, travel further for a Breed Club Show, or an assignment that will cover some of the overnight/travel expenses. I enjoy judging overseas and have done so on a number of occasions in Spinoni, Bracchi and Golden Retrievers. |
| Any Expenses Required | Travel/overnight accommodation for assignments more than 150 miles from Warwickshire, except Breed Club Shows. |
