How do I get an account?

Our objective is to provide a useful service to show committees and to help you achieve credibility as a judge.

Our 'Help' pages already provide some useful information for judges and these will be expanded in the future.

Completing your profile is free and if you have any problems we will be pleased to help you sort them out and advise you until you are happy with it.  However, it will not be available for anyone else to see until you have subscrbed to the site.  The subcription is £15 each year and you can pay by clicking on the link in the top left hand corner of your 'My Account' page.  You can pay by Paypal or Credit Card.

If you are listed in the FCI European Directory of Judges please go the the borttom of this page for special instructions.

Your profile will usually be available within about 24 hours of your payment being received.

Once you have paid and your application has been approved (this can take a few days and when it has been you will receive a message welcoming you to the community) your 'status' at the top right hand corner of your 'My Account' page will change to 'Paid' and your profile will be available to those browsing the site.

You can, of course, unsubcribe at any time.

It is important only to list those breeds or groups which you have actually judged - you should not list all the breeds you feel capable or want to judge.  You can indicate those breeds or groups you feel competent to judge under 'Other Information' on your profile page.  Credibility as a judge cannot be created - it has to be earned. Whether we like it or not the process in the UK is slow - and exhibitors quickly recognise anyone who looks as though they are pushing too hard.

How to set up your account:

  • Follow the "My Account" link.
  • Click on the link for "Click here to sign up for a new account".
  • Complete all the details in the signup form. If you do not complete this first page you may not be able to get back onto the site.  Contact admin@ijudgedogs.com if you get stuck in this loop and we will sort it out.
  • Your username should be something unique to you and your password should be set to something secure, preferably using a mixture of upper and lower case letters and some numbers. It is your responsibility to ensure that your password is kept safe and is not something that can be easily guessed.
  • Once registered, you will receive 2 emails. You must activate your account using the activation email.  Once you have done this, close your browser before returning to the site to go to you admin area using the user name and password you were sent.
If you find you cannot access the account make sure you have replied to the 'activation' email THEN close down your browser completely and open it up again.  You should find you can access your adminstration page immediately

Please make sure that the www.ijudgedogs.com and www.ijudgedogs.co.uk domain names are whitelisted in your email account settings and check your spam folder if these 2 emails don't arrive.

When you log in for the first time (or if your details haven't been completed) you will be taken through various forms asking you to add your contact details and information about yourself and your judging CV. If you make a mistake, simply continue to the end of the required information and then go back and correct any mistakes.

The first line of your CV must state the first time you officiated for a breed at a KC licenced show and the breed you judged.  This is essential - only those who have actually judged a breed are eligible for membership (there are exceptions: import registered breeds being an example.  Please contact us for details).

Look at other CVs already posted for some ideas.  Our advice is:

  • keep it short
  • highlight important appointments (CC status or Group or BIS judging experience at KC licenced shows)
  • Give details of your experience/success as an exhibitor if you are just beginning your judging career include Matches, Companion Dog Shows, show training classes etc.
  • give details of any office you hold on general or breed committees
  • Make sure you complete all areas carefully with the correct spelling, captital letters, full stops and commas in the right places - it sounds obvious but mistakes put off those in a position to recommend appointments because they imply the candidate is  slipdash and unprofeshunal (does this make the point?).

Once this has been done you will then be taken to your admin Home page.
From here you can add or update your details as needed and also add all details of Breeds or Groups that you judge.

In the breed listings only include breeds you have actually judged or breeds where you are included on a Breed Club Judging List.

JUDGES LISTED ON THE FCI EUROPEAN JUDGES DIRECTORY

If you have a license to award Challenge Certificates in any breed from your own country and you have judged that breed in at least three countries for longer than 5 years, you are likely to be passed to award Challenge Certificates in the UK.  You must first have an invitation, of course, and there will be forms to complete but it is much easier that it used to be.

You need to put the breeds you judge in the appropriate section of the fields. Breed which are not recognised in the UK but which you judge should blists under General Information.

Any problems - just email admin@ijudgedogs,com.

 Payments and security

Somemay express concern re recurring payments via Paypal.  Are they safe?  Can you stop them easily?  What happens if there is a problem?

Although we have had very occasional problems these have all been resolved quickly.

Those problems have almost always been that due payments do not go through - so are in the member's favour and we write and explain what has happened.

Where that is not the case, repayments are always made as soon as the overpayment has been recognised.  This has not been a problem with the system, incidentally - it has been where members have inadvertently paid twice!

Recurring payments can be stopped at any time as follows:

From a Paypal account

1.Go to www.paypal.co.uk and log in to your account.
2.Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
3.Select 'My money'.
4.In the 'My pre-approved payments' section, click 'Update'.
5.Select the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel and click 'Cancel'.
6.Click 'Cancel Profile' to confirm your request

When going to your profile be sure to double click on the tab to open the full Profile page as you may not get all the options if you just hover you mouse over it. Once the page loads you will see the section that says 'my money.

From a Credit or Debit Card

Each bank has a slightly different procedure but whether or not you operate your account online the easiest way is simply to telephone your bank or credit card issuer and ask them to cancel the recurring payment

It is possible to accept cheques or BACS payments but the extra adminsitration required in checking and sending out reminders is significant as so, in fairness to everyone and to ensure the basic fee for membership of the iJD community stays as low as possible we must charge 20  rather than 15 pounds a year for anything other than recurring payments.
